Audio-Technica AT815a
This version of the AT815 family of microphones operates on a (single) AA battery. It does not support phantom powering, therefore the battery is required. The AT815a has less sensitivity than AT815b when phantom powered or AT815R, which must be phantom powered.

Audio-Technica AT815b
This version of the AT815 family of microphones can operate on phantom power or a (single) AA battery. The microphone has a higher sensitivity when phantom powered, thus it should always be phantom powered. AT815b has an "open front" unlike AT815a and AT815R which have the metal body blocking the center of the business end of the microphone. Presumably this would make AT815b more suitable for recording on-axis sources, and AT815a/AT815R more suitable for ensemble or ambient recording.

This version of the AT815 family of microphones requires phantom power. It does not have a battery provision.

Audio-Technica AT841UG
These microphones have a mini-XLR jack instead of a regular XLR jack, and always stay with the mini-XLR to XLR cable that is attached to them as in the first photo.
Used for: ambient. This is Oleg's microphone and he owns 2.
Audio-Technica ATM10
This microphone is shaped very similarly to ATM11. The difference is that ATM10 does not have the slots on the body, and ATM11 does.
Used for: ambient or TBD. This microphone is omnidirectional. This is Oleg's microphone.
Audio-Technica ATM11
This microphone is shaped very similarly to ATM10. The difference is that ATM11 has slots on the body (which produce the unidirectional pattern), and ATM10 does not.
Used for: instruments that do not have an assigned TSC-owned microphone. This is Oleg's microphone.

Used for: instruments that do not have an assigned TSC-owned microphone. This is Oleg's microphone.
MXL 991
This microphone looks quite similar to Rode NT-5. Don't confuse the two.
