Audio Services
Oleg can provide the following services to TSC or individual members upon request:
Concert Song Mix
I can mix a particular song from a recorded concert. You can pick more than one song, but because mixing well requires a good amount of time, I generally will not be able to mix all ~20 songs.
The quality of the mix depends on what microphones were set up during the concert.
Concert Ambient Mix
This is a recording of an entire concert using the best available ambient-ish microphones. Dedicated ambient microphones would generally produce a better recording, but may not be set up at a particular concert. Lacking dedicated ambient microphones, the mix will be assembled from other microphones (e.g. choir). If you are interested in this mix, you should request it ahead of the concert so that ambient mics are planned for.
Individual Concert Recording
Available to orchestra members or singers. For orchestra members, I will give you an audio file with your instrument in the left channel and your choice of reference in the right channel (standard reference is piano at reduced volume), with one file for the entire concert. For singers, you will probably receive one audio file per song with your vocals in the left channel and your choice of reference in the right channel. This way you can listen to how you performed.
I may be able to do this for instruments that do not get mic'd at concerts with audio from nearby microphones.
For an explanation of these mixes, see InstrumentMixNotes.
Rehearsal Recording
This is a recording of a rehearsal with one file for the entire rehearsal. I can obtain decent results with 6 microphones: piano mic, 2 ambient mics for the orchestra left and right of the piano, 2 vocal mics, Henric mic for his directions/instructions.
This recording must be requested ahead of a rehearsal for me to prepare and bring the needed equipment.
Individual Rehearsal Recording
I can record your instrument or voice, at a rehearsal, with a dedicated microphone, then give you an audio file with that audio in the left channel and your choice of reference in the right channel (realistically either piano or everything going into the mixer). You need to come to the rehearsal 15 minutes early to set up your station with the mic.
Rehearsal Vocal Reinforcement
I can bring vocal microphones + a PA system to a rehearsal to reinforce vocals. Since at the concerts the audience hears pretty much just the vocal reinforcement and not the soloists' direct acoustic output, practicing singing into a microphone at rehearsals is a good idea.
Concert Equipment
I can bring additional equipment to the concerts, such as:
- Wired and wireless microphones
- Cables
- Microphone stands
- Speakers and power amplifiers for monitoring
- USB interfaces to record additional instruments
Equipment I can source if there is interest:
- In-ear monitoring solution for orchestra members
